I opened with my song about 'mum' - as yesterday, it had been six years since she died. 'Journey', has taken a while to write and I gave it a first public outing. 'Routine' has had a major rewrite and this version is now (nearly) ready for the studio.

It said: 'HALLOWEEN SPECIAL open mic night - Sing a song about murder, mayhem and ghosts'. So, I got me a mask and dug out some other props and played a couple of my most suitable songs. The mask slipped up my face as the song went on, but like a good pro I kept going!

We had to play songs from films, so I dug out the 'Shadow', my main electric guitar from the Red Delta era (1988-91) and along with some big distortion played a classic song from Easy Rider. See Clive's Blog for his view on affairs.

We had a great launch evening for Dangerous Moonlight. Nearly 50 people filled the room and enjoyed music from six of our guests, before Dave and I performed the new EP.
Launch Party Films - Ray Whiteway-Roberts filmed the evening for use on his You Tube channel and I've built a page with his films on. It features all the performers and three of the four songs from Dangerous Moonlight - Ray had a slight battery issue, so missed filming the title song.

I'd raced my bike earlier in the evening and then headed over to the Blackboys, as it was Paul's 70th birthday and I'd been invited to play at his party. On my set, I was joined by Martin on sax, Chris Mansell on guitar, Dudley on bass & Paul (birthday boy) on harmonica. Great evening. x

A quiet and relaxed evening, so I decided to play some of my older songs which I'd recorded in the last century.
The main BBC news story of the day was about Homelessness and it included the fact that there are currently 140 rough sleepers in Brighton.
I decided to play Paul, a song about a rough sleeper who I worked with and who died on the streets of Brighton. Click for a bit of info about my work with the Homeless.
Bob Melrose played some great lead on Toast for one, which was dedicated to the previous day's BBC news story about toast being bad for you and potentially giving you cancer!
I finished with Life's a race, as I've just entered L-E-L (London Edinburgh London), a 900 mile cycling event at the end of July and you get less than 5-days to complete it - they run it every 4-years and I failed to finish it last time.
It's a must do event and on my bucket list and is going to be very tough. Click for my L-E-L report from 2013.
I do enjoy it when I can dip into my catalogue of songs and perform ones that relate to topical stuff.
