Thanks to all the great friends/musicians who played live with me in 2016, it was a blast. x In 2015, I'd set myself a mission to do a live performance of every song I'd ever written & recorded. I completed the challenge and ended up performing 75 different songs. In 2016 I only played 55 different songs from my catalogue, these included 'Xeroxed armies', which was the final composition for my album, 'Standing Room Only'. Towards the end of the year I introduced two new numbers, 'Cry' & 'Unwanted fruit' - they will feature on my next album.

Two Worlds Collide (again): It was the Lewes Wanderers annual Christmas Pub Night crawl on bikes. We started at the Six Bells at 6:00pm and progressed via the two pubs in East Hoathly to the Blackboys, where it was also open mic night! The arrival of 20+ lycra clad cyclists filled the bar and somewhat changed the dynamic. I borrowed Dave's guitar and did a couple of my up-tempo songs with John helping out with some great slide and Paul doing a top job with his harmonica - and then it was time to leave and head to the Star for the big final shift. I got home at 1:15am - an excellent night.

It was Tony Parry's last night at the helm, as he's relocating to the West Country. He'd got a special guest artist, David Massengill and there was a full house. Lisa joined me with some great BVs on Ghosts; I then joined Frank on rhythm guitar for a couple of songs. A really good evening and we are hoping to keep it going under new management.

Helga's Birthday Party, Ringmer
My old friend John Cratchley was visiting and we had a chance to play some live music together for the first time since 1991. The evening was full of music, with numerous impromptu line-ups performing a wide range of material. I did five or six of my songs from across the years with John, along with various bits with Helga and others. It was a great evening. John and I played 'Lost my mind' the first song that Live Evil (our first band) composed. Click for a version on You Tube from 1976.

I'd written a new song during the day, 'Xeroxed Armies' and I gave it a go at the end of my set, with John Oddie on electric slide and Ben Armstrong on Cajon.

A quiet night, so we played in a circle with plenty of jamming, not really my thing but I took the lead on the above collection of songs and in the end it was a nice evening and a good laugh.
