Once is a 5-song EP and it will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, all other major streaming platforms and Digipak CD. This is my 11th project with Kevin Jones. I'm calling it, 'Once' (Spanish for 11 and English for so much more). Three full studio numbers and a couple of GarageBand outings on the iPad - a good mix. See Diary for the story and Video for films featuring three songs from this EP See below for song details Once Release Date: 01/09/26 Ref: CJM31 1) Guardian angel - I wrote this song when I was 31 and recorded versions with different lead vocalists (Alison, Sarah & Simon). I've been playing it live recently and have enjoyed getting some big sing-alongs going. I thought it was about time I recorded a version with me on lead vocals. Heather brought her 7-year old granddaughter (Allana) along for her first studio session and she recorded the opening line. Heather & Kev added some lovely harmonies. A good song to open the EP. 2) Electric blues and me - I enjoyed putting this together with, acoustic and electric guitar. The lyrics are a mix of story and observation. 3) Liverpool - My mum and her folks were from Liverpool, whilst I've lived my entire life in the south of England. I have lovely memories of visiting my grandparents in Knotty Ash when I was a child and having adventures in Liverpool. They bought me my first electric guitar. Going back for the first time in many years was a spiritual experience, combining then and now. This song (and video) is a document off my thoughts, reflections and memories of Liverpool. 4) New York Four amazing days in New York. Narrated vocal, with energetic music from GarageBand. 5) Looking for luck - Fun with GarageBand in 3/4. 6) I went to America Part 2 - Released as a single on 01/06/26 (see below) and included on the CD copy of, 'Once'. This one's taken a while and in doing so, it has allowed me to explore a wide range of music styles, from simple acoustic guitar and voice, through ambient guitars, synths, to hard rock. We went with a beautiful piano arrangement by my wife, Heather. I delivered the song in a narration style, which was inspired by Vivian Stanshall, with a slight leaning towards Noël Coward. I hope dad would approve. 2) All of the time - A simple, acoustic guitar, bass and voice recording of this song, which I originally wrote back in 2013. It was great to revisit the song and the icing on the cake, is the fabulous sax solo on the bridge by, Simon Farmer. 3) Acoustic blues and me - I love playing the blues on my old Martin 00-21 guitar and had some fun with the lyrics. What should a 65-year old man sing about? 4) Hair A raft of atmospheric electric guitars by my old friend, John Cratchley helps me tell the story of my hair. 5) Fade away - Fun with GarageBand - Dorian Gray in Dorian mode. 6) Celeb (Remix) - A piece of ‘Punk Hop’ exploring the juxtaposition of celebrity and an aging nobody. Song 1: I set out to record a new and different version of the four songs I'd written for my Dangerous Moonlight EP in 2017, which had featured just my acoustic guitar and vocals by Dave Moore. Song 2: The 'Then & Now' series has also given me a chance to revisit four other old songs from my back catalogue. Song 3: Something to say. Song 4: Let's push the envelope and have some fun. Lockdown is a double-sided single - available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and TikTok. During the Coronavirus Lockdown I wrote two songs expressing my views on this strange new world and recorded them on my iPhone using GarageBand. This was quite fiddly, with just the phone screen available for all the editing work. Simon Farmer produced two fab saxophone parts and sent them over. I mixed the finished recordings and forwarded them to Kevin Jones, who kindly mastered them ready for release. Dangerous Moonlight is a four-song EP featuring Dave Moore on vocals. I’d written a new batch of songs all inspired by ‘feelings’. Dave had done backing vocals on a couple of my previous albums and I am a big fan of his rich and warm voice, so decided to ask him to do the vocals on this project. Standing Room Only features twelve new self-penned compositions. With its combination of words and music, a song can be the most expressive of all artistic mediums and for me, the process of writing and recording is an extraordinary journey. I can explore real and often gritty subjects, making observations and asking questions. I then enjoy wrapping the lyric in both beautiful and powerful music. On this album, I move from fragile acoustic singer songwriter numbers, through jazz, country, rock and roll, to full blown epic rock. Some great musicians came along on the journey and I can’t thank them enough for their input, their time and most importantly, their talent, which helped make this a very special album. View from a window features nine new songs and four short instrumentals. Each composition is built around the acoustic guitar, but I’ve added more layers than on the previous two albums and have gone for a more polished overall production.
